Lagavoulin

Lagavulin, a historic Islay distillery established in 1816, is renowned for its peaty and complex single malt Scotch whiskies. Acquired by Diageo in the 1920s, Lagavulin has maintained a stellar reputation for its rich and full-bodied expressions. The whiskies are heavily peated, offering intense smokiness alongside maritime notes of seaweed and iodine. Lagavulin 16 Year Old, a classic expression, exemplifies a well-balanced combination of peat, sweetness, and complexity. The annual Lagavulin 12 Year Old limited edition is prized for its higher proof and vibrant character. Lagavulin whiskies attract enthusiasts who appreciate bold, smoky, and intricately layered flavors.

Laphroig

Laphroaig, an iconic Islay distillery founded in 1815, boasts a rich history and bold whisky style with distinctive peaty and medicinal flavors. Surviving Prohibition and ownership changes, it joined Beam Suntory in 1994. Known for heavily peated whiskies, Laphroaig's location near the Atlantic influences its unique taste, enhanced by locally sourced barley and Kilbride Dam water. Maturation in oak casks further shapes their expressions, including popular ones like Laphroaig 10 Year Old and Triple Wood. Described as an acquired taste, Laphroaig appeals to enthusiasts who relish the complexity of bold, smoky whiskies.
